Pittsburgh Claims Season's Last BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Pittsburgh senior Caitlin Trant and sophomore Adam Maczewski were named the BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week for the 2010-11 season's final week of competition.
 
Trant posted two individual wins last week as the panthers defeated Carnegie Mellon 215-82, California (Pa.) 214-70 and Grove City 231.5-51.5 as part of Senior Day on Feb. 5. She finished the 100-yard backstroke in 59.61 and the 100-yard butterfly in 56.12. The senior swam the third leg of the 200-medley relay in 24.90, helping Pitt come in at 1:45.20 for the win.
 
Maczewski won one individual event and assisted two winning relays as the Pitt men beat Carnegie Mellon 223.5-75.5, Clarion 230-58 and Grove City 230.5-62.5 on Feb. 5. He finished the 100-yard backstroke in 47.99. He also leads the BIG EAST in that event with a time of 47.67, set on Jan. 29 against Virginia. The sophomore swam the first leg of the 200-yard medley in 23.20, helping the Panthers clock in at 1:32.06. Maczewski also took the first leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay. He recorded a time of 21.35 as Pitt finished in 1:22.21.
