2014 Swimming and Diving Championship Central
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Winter's grip on the Northeast is forcing a change in plans for the 2014 BIG EAST Diving Championships, originally scheduled for this Friday-Saturday at Villanova.
It's expected that coach and student-athlete travel to the Philadelphia area will be severely impacted because of Thursday's predicted winter storm, which is forecast to drop at least six inches of snow to portions of the Northeast. Considering the extenuating circumstances of the weather plus facility availability, the diving events have been rescheduled to all take place on Saturday. Georgetown, Providence, Seton Hall and Villanova will compete.
The women's one-meter and the men's three-meter will kick off the day's festivities at 10 a.m. with preliminary competition. Finals are set for 20 minutes following the end of prelims. After an early-afternoon break, the prelims for the women's three- and the men's one-meter boards will take place at 4 p.m. As with the early session, the finals will take place 20 minutes after the prelims end. In all competitions, the top eight will advance to the finals.
The diving scores will carry forward to the following week when the 2014 BIG EAST Swimming Championships commence at Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Sewell, N.J.
