Louisville's De Lucca Wins NCAA Championship in the 200-Yard Freestyle

Junior Joao De Lucca of Louisville won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:31.51 during day two of the NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships Friday at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.



De Lucca, the BIG EAST Swimmer of the Year, posted the third-fastest time in event history trailing only Simon Burnett (1:31.20) and Ricky Berens (1:31.31). The junior swam in lane one and beat Dimit Colupaev of USC by more than a second (1:32.74). It was the second largest margin of victory in the history of the 200 freestyle.
