Ten BIG EAST Squads Garner CSCAA Scholar All-America Awards

NEW YORK – All six women’s swimming and diving teams from the BIG EAST and four of the conference’s five men’s squads were recognized Wednesday by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with Spring Scholar All-America Awards, including both BIG EAST Championship squads from February.

The accolades are presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the semester/quarter coinciding with the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CCCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

Butler’s women’s squad, coached by Maurice Stewart, boasted the best team GPA in the BIG EAST at 3.48, with BIG EAST Women’s Swimming and Diving champion Villanova close behind at 3.47. 2014 runner-up Georgetown was next with a 3.45 GPA.

On the men’s side, Seton Hall, coached by Ron Farina, led with a 3.26 GPA, while BIG EAST Champion Xavier boasted a 3.24. The Hoyas, who were also second in the men’s standings, owned a 3.23 GPA.

Yale posted the top men’s GPA at 3.50, while Kentucky’s 3.72 topped the women’s list.
