PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Notre Dame senior Amywren Miller turned in an impressive performance against Michigan State and was named the first BIG EAST Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week for the 2010-11 season, while Seton Hall senior Kevin Webster took home BIG EAST Male Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week honors.
Miller posted a pair of individual wins to go along with a relay victory in Notre Dame's 150-93 victory over Michigan State Oct. 29. Miller won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.46 seconds and the 100 freestyle with a 52.54 mark. In addition to winning the two fastest events last week at Michigan State, she anchored the 200 medley relay to a first-place showing. Notre Dame is 1-2 this season.
Webster swept three individual races at a quad meet in Baltimore Oct. 30. His efforts helped the Pirates beat Drexel 174-122 and Lafayette 198-93, while Loyola edged SHU 186-113. Webster won the 200 and the 500 freestyles with times of 1:39.89 and 4:32.92, respectively. He also won the 200 individual medley with a 1:53.31 mark and swam the first leg of the 200 medley relay en route to second place, finishing in 1:35.19. Seton Hall is 4-1 this season.
