Louisville and DePaul Split BIG EAST Tennis Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Louisville's Andrew Carter and DePaul's Katarina Milinkovic were named BIG EAST Male Tennis Player of the Week and BIG EAST Female Tennis Player of the Week, respectively following dominating performances last week.
Carter clinched the No. 12 Cardinals win over No. 24 Oklahoma 4-3 Feb. 11, helping Louisville achieve its best start in program history at 8-0, while Mikinkovic led the No. 34 Blue Demons to a 3-0 record last week, beating Georgetown 5-1 Feb. 11, Drexel 6-1 Feb. 12 and Navy 6-1 Feb. 12.
In singles action, Carter defeated Oklahoma's Lawrence Formentera in the No. 5 spot, dropping the first game 4-6 and then downing Fromentera 6-0, 6-4. He is now 14-8 in singles play. The junior paired with Simon Childs to edge the Sooners team of No. 38-ranked John Warden and Formentera 8-5 in No. 2 doubles. Carter improved to 9-5 in doubles this season. 
Milinkovic paced DePaul with three No. 1 singles wins, while also teaming with Gia McKnight for two No. 1 doubles victories last week. She defeated Navy's Amanda Griffin 6-2, 6-0, shutout Drexel's Gozde Unkaya and beat Georgetown's Stephanie Wetmore 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. In doubles play, the No. 55 duo of Milinokovic and McKnight downed Navy's Amanda Griffin and Erin Snook 8-2 and Drexel's Sonja Stosic 8-1. The tandem moved to 6-2 on the season. The senior boasts an 87-38 singles record, while she is 65-43 in doubles action. Milinkovic has won her last six matches and eight of her last nine.
