St. John's and Notre Dame Share Tennis Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - St. John's junior Milo Hauk and Notre Dame freshman Jennifer Kellner were named BIG EAST Male Tennis Player of the Week and BIG EAST Female Tennis Player of the Week, respectively for the week of March 1-8.
Hauk helped the Red Storm pick up wins over Fairfield, Princeton, Case Western and James Madison. The 4-3 win over No. 57 Princeton March 5 was the second for St. John's this season. The junior highlighted the action for the Red Storm by winning the match-clinching point over the Tigers at No. 3 singles. With the match level at three, Hauk defeated Princeton's Augie Bloom 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (2-0) to clinch the win for STJ. The Elmsford, N.Y. native also picked up a singles win at Fairfield 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. Hauk improved to 5-2 in singles play for the season, dropping his lone doubles match last week at Princeton 3-8 with teammate Gustav Kallen in the No. 3 slot.  
In the Irish's 6-1 win over No. 41 Indiana March 4, Kellner earned her first career win at No. 3 singles against IU's Charlotte Martin. In doubles action, the freshman paired with Julie Sabacinski to down Indiana's Kayla Fujimoto and Evgeniya Vertesheva 8-6 in the No. 2 spot. Notre Dame dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 7 Baylor March 6 as Kellner picked up her second win over a ranked opponent this season. She defeated Baylor's 70th-ranked Karolina Filipiak 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. The win marked her eighth singles dual match win in a row. She ranks 112th in singles play. Kellner's lone loss of the week came at No. 3 doubles as Baylor's Filipiak and Taylor Ormond edged the Irish duo 9-8 (8-6).
