NEW YORK – Creighton’s Billy Paluch and Seton Hall’s Chloe Sher were honored with BIG EAST Weekly Tennis Awards on Tuesday by the conference.
BIG EAST Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
BILLY PALUCH, CREIGHTON Sr., Rapid City, S.D.
Creighton went 4-1 in Spring Break matches in Orlando, Fla., last week, with Paluch combined for a 5-1 mark across singles and doubles competition. Playing at the top singles flight, Paluch went 3-0, all in straight sets, in match victories over St. Cloud State, Quinnipiac and Wesleyan. In one unfinished match, he was up a set and trailed 2-3 in the second. Paluch and teammate Jake Norman went 2-1 in doubles matches as well with wins against St. Cloud and Quinnipiac and a loss to Wesleyan.
BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
CHLOE SHER, SETON HALL Sr., Tin Shui Wai, Hong Kong
Sher was 6-0 across singles and doubles competition for the Pirates, who logged a 2-1 record as a team to improve to 8-5. Playing exclusively at No. 1, Sher logged wins against East Carolina, Bryant and Valparaiso, not surrendering a set in any of them. Sher and partner Rocio Portela went 3-0 at doubles, winning two matches by an 8-2 score and a third by an 8-1 tally.
