Top Four Seeds Advance in Day Two Action at Men's Tennis Championship

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The top four seeds advanced in day two action at the 2013 BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championships hosted by the University of Notre Dame.  


Due to inclement weather Friday, Matches 2, 4 and 5 were played indoors at the Eck Tennis Pavilion and Match 4 was played at the South Bend Racquet Club. The first match of the day featured a 4-0 sweep of top-seed Notre Dame over No. 9 seed St. John's. At the South Bend Racquet Club, No. 4 Marquette won 4-0 against No. 5 Georgetown. At the same time, No. 7 DePaul fell short of upsetting reigning BIG EAST Champion, No. 2 Louisville. The Cardinals claimed the deciding match on court six 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. In the final match Friday, No. 3 USF claimed another 4-0 decision, defeating No. 6 Villanova in two hours and 15 minutes.


The winner's bracket tomorrow will feature the Fighting Irish against the Golden Eagles at 9 a.m. ET and the Cardinals against the Bulls at noon. In the consolation bracket, Georgetown and St. John's will square off against each other at 3 p.m. and Villanova will face DePaul at the South Bend Racket Club at 1 p.m.

Match 5 - #3 USF 4, #6 Villanova 0
