Louisville and Georgetown Earn September BIG EAST Tennis Player of the Month Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Louisville freshman Michael Lippens and Georgetown sophomore Tina Tehrani were named BIG EAST Male Tennis Player of the Month and BIG EAST Female Tennis Player of the Month, respectively.
 
Lippens began his collegiate career with six straight singles wins, en route to a 9-1 singles record and a 4-3 doubles record for the month of September. He went 5-0 to win the Flight `A' division of the Louisville Fall Invitational and followed up with two wins at the University of Virginia Ranked+1 Invitational. He also picked up two more wins at the Ball State Invitational. Along the way, he defeated two ranked opponents, Vigrinia's No. 65 Julen Uriguen and Radford's No. 90 Stijn Meulemans. In doubles, Lippens teamed with classmate Chris Simich to advance to the Flight `A' finals of the Louisville Fall Invitational and paired with senior Robert Hall to reach the consolation finals of the UVA Ranked+1 Invitational. 
 
Tehrani produced an 8-0 singles record and a 6-1 doubles record in September, while winning two singles tournaments and one doubles event. She won the University of North Carolina Wilmington Fall Invitational Flight `A' with a 4-0 record, winning all matches in straight sets. Tehrani also was victorious in the Georgetown Classic, winning four additional straight-set singles matches, and teaming with freshman Sophie Panarese for the doubles title.
