PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Louisville earned three of the four BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field weekly awards while Villanova grabbed one, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. On the women's side, Villanova senior Sheila Reid was named BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week while Louisville senior D'Ana McCarty earned BIG EAST Women's Field Athlete of the Week. Wolter was named BIG EAST Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after registering the top time in the BIG EAST in the 3,000-meter steeplechase this season at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. Wolter notched a career-best time of 8:51.92, the best in the conference and the 10th-best time nationally this season. Gann cleared a height of 5.05 meters to notch first place at the meet and set a career best in the event. The junior also set a school record, breaking the mark that he previously set at the 2008 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships. It is also the best mark in the conference during the outdoor season. Reid was named BIG EAST Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after running a career-best time of 4:11.85 in the 1,500-meter run. The time is the best in the nation and in the conference this season. Reid placed second in the race but was the first collegiate runner to cross the finish line. She improved her personal best by nearly five seconds. McCarty earned BIG EAST Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week after placing in the top three in three separate throwing events at the Sea Ray Relays. McCarty took second in the hammer throw and third in both the discus and the shot put.
