Rutgers' Plummer Earns Third BIG EAST Men's Track & Field Weekly Honor

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Connecticut's Victoria Flowers and Claudio DelliCarpini, and Rutgers' James Plummer earned the final BIG EAST Track & Field weekly awards of the season. Flowers and Plummer have combined for nine weekly awards in 2012-13.

Flowers was named BIG EAST Women's Field Athlete of the Week after impressive performances at Penn Relays on April 25-27. The senior won the hammer throw with a mark of 64.20m. Flowers took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 16.20m. Her shot put mark was a Connecticut program record. The senior tops the league in the hammer throw and ranks third in the shot put.

DelliCarpini earned BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete of the Week accolades with a first-place finish in the 110m hurdles at the Yale Invitational on April 28. The junior clocked a time of 14.59 which ranks 10th in the league.

Plummer won his third consecutive discus title at Penn Relays with a mark of 59.23m to be named BIG EAST Men's Field Athlete of the Week. With the victory, the senior became the only Scarlet Knight to win three straight titles in the same event at Penn Relays. Plummer ranks first in the BIG EAST by more than four meters and fifth nationally.
