AMHERST, Mass.- Emily Durgin led the UConn women’s cross country team for the second consecutive week as the Huskies claimed second place at the UMass Invite with 55 points. Connecticut averaged a time of 17:55.46 in Saturday’s 5K.
Durgin claimed third place overall as she crossed the finish line in 17:20.10. Senior Brigitte Mania quickly followed her teammate taking sixth place with a time of 17:43.09.
Connecticut had four Huskies finish in the top-15 with Abby Mace and Laura Williamson joining Durgin and Mania. Mace concluded the race in 17:53.63 for 10th place and Williamson was 13th with a mark of 17:58.37.
The final Huskies to run on Saturday were Emily Howard and Katherine Vodopia who finished 26th and 28th, respectively. Howard had a time of 18:42.09 and Vodopia ran the 5K in 18:50.80.
UConn’s next race will be at the Ted Owens Invite in New Britain, Conn. on Saturday, September 21. The run is scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m.
