SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The DePaul cross country teams ran at the National Catholic Championships, hosted by the University of Notre Dame, for their second meet of the year on Friday afternoon.
Junior Jackie Kasal (18:24.9) placed 23rd out of 91 runners for the Blue Demons, who finished seventh out of 11 NCAA Division I schools. Taylor Hynes (18:43.6) logged a 34th-place finish to follow Kasal, while Jessica Sanborn posted a time of 19:18.3 to conclude the race in 51st overall.
On the men's side, senior Chris Miedema (26:16.4) led DePaul by finishing 25th out of 91 runners, while Herald Alvarez crossed the finish line in 31st (26:24.5). Senior Ryan Van Fossen (26:52.1) also posted a top-50 finish, placing 48th overall.
The host Notre Dame Fighting Irish captured titles on both the men's and women's side, holding off second-place Loyola (men) and Xavier (women).
In addition to 10 Division I men's teams and 11 Division I women's teams, 22 men's and 26 women's non-Division I schools competed at the National Catholic Championships on Friday afternoon in South Bend, Ind.
The Blue Demons will have two weekends off before racing at the Lucian Rosa Invitational in Kenosha, Wis., on Oct. 12.
