BOSTON, Mass. -
The Providence College women's cross country team competed at the New England Championships at Franklin Park, Mass on Saturday, October 12. The women finished 16th out of 43 teams.
Sophomore Katie Sischo (Jamesville, N.Y.) was the first Friar finish for the women. Sischo finished 61st in at time of 18:45 for the 5km course. Sophomore Kathleen Powell (Wrentham, Mass.) was the second Friar to cross the line with an 80th-place finish (18:56).
Seniors Elizabeth DeVivo (Riverside, Conn.) and Jackie McCarthy (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and freshman Keelin Hollowood (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) rounded out the top-5 places for the Friars. Devivo (18:57) and McCarthy (18:58) finished 84th and 85th respectively while Hollowood was inside the top-100 with a 99th-place finish (19:07).
Juniors Julie Solimine (Haverhill, Mass.) and Caile Kohlbrenner (Sparkhill, N.Y.) also competed. Solimine finished 117th and Kohlbrenner finished 122nd.
Junior Devyn Pryor (Dartmouth, Mass.) and senior Molly McCann (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) competed in the sub varsity race, where Pryor finished 90th with a time of 20:25 and McCann finished in 105 with a time of 20:33.
The individual winner of the women's varsity race went to Boston University's Rosa Moriello in a time of 17:13 while the University of New Hampshire took out the team title with 57 points.
The Friars are back in action next weekend (Oct., 19) at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis.
