PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Louisville senior Kim Grieshaber and Notre Dame senior Paul Springer both went on to first-place finishes at their respective meets to help them earn the year's first BIG EAST Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.
Grieshaber helped her Louisville squad to a first-place finish out of four collegiate opponents by taking the women's individual title at the Mid-America Open with a time of 14:20 in the 4k race. The Cardinals finished ahead of Evansville, Indiana State and Kentucky Wesleyan. The senior outpaced her closest competition by more than 13 seconds, pulling away from the pack with a mile to go.

The Kennett Square, Pa., native finished the 6k race in a time of 19:34.50 to claim the individual title in the 46-man race.
