Notre Dame and DePaul Earn BIG EAST Cross Country Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Notre Dame junior Jessica Rydberg and DePaul senior Matthew Graham both captured first-place finishes at their respective meets to help them earn BIG EAST Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors. This is the second-consecutive weekly honor that Graham has received.
 
Rydberg helped her Notre Dame squad to a first-place finish of 33 collegiate opponents by taking the individual title at the National Catholic Championship with a time of 17:16 in the 5k race. The race consisted of 272 competitors on the Notre Dame Cross Country Course. The junior outpaced her closest competition by six seconds. 
 
Graham picks up his second weekly award of the season after capturing the individual title at the National Catholic Championship. He finished the five-mile course in 24:15, 20 seconds quicker than the second-place runner. Graham ran at a 4:51 pace per mile in the 255-man field.
