BIG EAST Baseball Statistics
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Rutgers designated hitter Charlie Law and Connecticut pitcher Carson Cross were named BIG EAST baseball award winners this week. Connecticut and Rutgers opened conference play 2-1 last week.
Cross was named BIG EAST Baseball Pitcher of the Week after tossing seven shutout innings in a 6-0 win at Georgetown. The sophomore recorded five strikeouts and no walks.
Law earned BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week honors with a 9-for-16 (.562) performance last week with five RBI and two runs scored. The junior went 2-for-4 with two RBI in a 7-3 win that clinched the series win against No. 4 Louisville. The junior also pitched eight innings in the 7-3 win with three strikeouts.
Justin Glass, Cincinnati, Jr., OF
Glass went 8-for-18 last week with five RBI and two runs scored in a 1-3 week for the Bearcats.
Dan Slania, Notre Dame, Jr., RHP
Slania recorded two saves in two 3-2 wins for Notre Dame over Seton Hall in last Saturday's doubleheader. The junior allowed two hits in just over three innings of work.
Stephen Vranka, Pittsburgh, Jr., OF
Vranka went 6-for-11 in a series sweep of St. John's, recording four RBI and three doubles.
Matt Wotherspoon, Pittsburgh, Jr., RHP
Wotherspoon pitched a complete game in the second game of the series against St. John's, picking up the win with six strikeouts and just two walks allowed.
Nik Alfonso, USF, Fr., 2B
Alfonso hit 8-for-13 with two doubles in a 3-1 week for the Bulls. The junior was never struck out in 13 at bats.
