Cincinnati's Patishall and Louisville's Gardner Earn BIG EAST Baseball Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -Cincinnati's Mitch Patishall and Louisville's Jeff Gardner earned BIG EAST baseball weekly honors after leading their teams to impressive victories.

 

Cincinnati's Mitch Patishall pitched a complete-game 4-0 shutout against Villanova in Game 2 to secure the series win. The freshman scattered three hits and surrendered two walks while recording five strikeouts.

 

Louisville's Jeff Gardner went 4-for-4 in a 12-5 win against No. 17 Kentucky. The junior hit a home run to go with two doubles and four RBI. Gardner went 9-for-13 for the week with six RBI, three doubles and two home runs.

 

Honor Roll

 

Adam Norton, Notre Dame, Sr., RHP

Norton pitched a complete-game shutout, scattering five hits in a 6-0 win over Quinnipiac. 

 

Stephen Vranka, Pittsburgh, Jr., OF

Vranka hit in six straight games to help Pittsburgh to a 5-1 record last week. The junior went 8-for-24 with eight RBI, including five in a three-game sweep at Rutgers.

 

Martin Kelly, St. John's, Jr., OF

Kelly helped St. John's to a series win over Louisville last week, going 4-for-13 with two RBI and one stolen base.

 

Giuseppe Papaccio, Seton Hall, Sr., SS

Papaccio led Seton Hall to a series win over Georgetown last week, tallying seven RBI. The senior went 9-for-16 on the week (.562) with two runs scored.

 

James Ramsay, USF, Jr., OF

Ramsay was named to the honor roll after a 4-0 week for the Bulls. The junior went 8-for-24 (.333) with one RBI and three doubles.
