PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Seton Hall's junior Scott Kalamarwas selected as the BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week and Louisville's junior Justin Amlungwas named BIG EAST Baseball Pitcher of the week after the sixth weekend of BIG EAST play.
Kalamar led Seton Hall to a 5-0 week by hitting .500 (11 for 22) with two triples, a home run, seven RBIs and five runs scored in the five games. He registered at least two hits in each of the Pirates' three games against West Virginia, leading Seton Hall to its first series sweep of the Mountaineers since 2000. He was a combined 6-for-12 with two triples in the series against West Virginia.
Amlung improved to 7-3 on the season and moved into a tie for second on Louisville's career wins list (22) when he earned the decision in a 5-0 win against Connecticut. Amlung worked seven shutout innings and allowed just four singles with six strikeouts and one walk against the Huskies, who entered the game tied for first place in the BIG EAST standings. The win helped the Cardinals take two of three from Connecticut, leaving the Cardinals and Huskies part of a three-way tie for second in the standings.
