PROVIDENCE, R.I.- St. John's junior Sean O'Hare was selected as the BIG EAST Baseball Player of the Week and USF's senior Andrew Barbosa was named BIG EAST Baseball Pitcher of the Week. With two weekends remaining in BIG EAST play, St. John's is the first team to clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Championship.
O'Hare batted .583 (7-for-12) with two doubles, five runs scored and a team-high six RBI as part of a 3-1 week that included a series win against USF. O'Hare added three multi-hit games to go with a .750 slugging percentage and a .643 on-base percentage. The junior went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and three runs in a nonconference win against Iona. O'Hare then went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored in game two against USF before going 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in the finale.
Barbosa pitched a complete game shutout in the opening game of the series against first-place St. John's. He only allowed two hits and struck out nine batters in his sixth win of the season. It marked the first complete game by a Bulls pitcher this season. He ranks third in the BIG EAST with a 2.29 ERA.
