USF won its 12th in a row at home with a 7-3 win over Bethune-Cookman. Three Bulls tallied two RBI each and Lawrence Pardo picked up the save. The Bulls are tied for first in the BIG EAST standings at 15-3.
Louisville shutout Eastern Kentucky 4-0 thanks to a complete game from Kyle Funkhouser. The freshman struck out five and didn't surrender a walk. The Cardinals tallied their eighth shutout of the season to set a program record.
Cincinnati won the first game of a home-and-home series against Xavier 5-3. Senior outfielder Justin Glass went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored in the win. The Bearcats have won their last four nonconference contests.
Rutgers lost 10-4 to Saint Peter's on Tuesday in their first meeting since 2006. The Scarlet Knights have lost their last seven nonconference games.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered
Louisville, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall and USF sealed their bids to the 2013 BIG EAST Baseball Championship last weekend. Louisville swept Villanova, Pittsburgh swept Georgetown, Seton Hall swept Cincinnati and USF won the series at Notre Dame. Pittsburgh and USF currently top the standings at 15-3.
Ranked and Rolling
Three BIG EAST teams are ranked in the Baseball America Top-25 Poll, including No. 11 Louisville, No. 23 USF and No. 24 Pittsburgh. The last time the BIG EAST had three teams in the Baseball America poll was the week of May 10, 2010 with No. 9 Louisville, No. 20 Connecticut and No. 24 Pittsburgh.
