SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cleveland Melvin scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds as DePaul dropped a 78-57 game at Syracuse on Wednesday night. Brandon Young added 12 points and six assists for the Blue Demons.

Trailing by three, the Blue Demons converted three straight three-pointers took a 17-11 advantage with 13:19 left in the first half. Moses Morgan hit a three in between two trifectas from Jamee Crockett.

Syracuse (23-7, 11-6 BIG EAST) responded and finish the first half with a 20-5 run to take a 35-26 lead into halftime.

The Orange extended its lead to double-figures early in the second half and led by as many as 24 points late in the game.

DePaul (11-19, 2-15 BIG EAST) went just 12-for-24 from the free throw line while shooting .278 (5-18) from three-point range. Moses Morgan added nine points off the bench and Crockett finished with eight points.

DePaul closes the regular season on Saturday afternoon against Pittsburgh at Allstate Arena. Start time is 1 p.m.


Postgame Notes:

- Wednesday is the 14th meeting between the two programs... Syracuse leads the series by a 10-4 margin... Syracuse has won the last seven meetings.

- Brandon Young moved past Sammy Mejia (396 assists, 2003-07) for sixth all-time... he also becomes the sixth player in program history with 400 assists... Young moved into 19th place on DePaul's all-time scoring list.

- DePaul has lost 43 straight games against ranked opponents (42 vs. AP-ranked opponents)... DePaul's last win over a ranked-team was an 84-76 victory over No. 17/16 Villanova on Jan. 3, 2008 at Allstate Arena.
