All Access: FOX Sports 1 - BIG EAST Coaches Mic'd Up

The BIG EAST ended the calendar year with a bang. The conference season opened with five games played consecutively from noon to midnight ET on Dec. 31. FOX Sports 1 televised the marathon. All three new members began BIG EAST play at home in front of boisterous crowds.

Xavier and St. John's started the day at the Cintas Center. The Musketeers took eight minutes to score a point, but recovered and beat the visiting Red Storm 70-60. Forward Justin Martin led XU with 15 points.

Seton Hall and Providence played a double-overtime thriller with the Pirates prevailing 81-80. Guard Sterling Gibbs sank two free thows with four seconds left to give Seton Hall a road win.

DePaul got the jump on Georgetown in the first half, building an eight-point lead before the Hoyas rallied in the second half for a 61-54 victory. Georgetown guard Markel Starks led all scorers with 21 points.

Villanova and Butler staged the day's second overime contest at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Wildcats squeezed out a 76-73 win. Forward JayVaughn Pinkston was a force around the basket for Villanova with 22 points.

The day ended in front of 18,525 fans at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha where the homestanding Bluejays defeated Marquette 67-49. Doug McDermott tallied a game-high 19 points and guard Jahenns Manigat was an all-around contributor with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists.
