BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Creighton's Doug McDermott has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Villanova's Josh Hart has been named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week. Both players helped their teams win a pair of BIG EAST games.
Doug McDermott, F, Creighton
McDermott helped the Bluejays jump to early leads in two BIG EAST wins. He scored 18 of his 30 points in the first 10 minutes of a 79-66 victory at Seton Hall. In a 67-49 victory against Marquette, McDermott scored 10 of CU's first 15 points en route to 19 points. He averaged 24.5 points, 8.5 boards and 3.5 assists for the week.
BIG EAST ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Josh Hart, G, Villanova
Hart scored 10 points in two BIG EAST wins. In a 91-61 victory versus Providence, he had six rebounds and three assists. In a 76-73 overtime win at Butler, Hart shot 4-of-5 from the field. He was 5-of-8 from 3-point range for the two games.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, G, Georgetown
Scored 31 points in a win over St. John's and averaged 21.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Shot 61.5 perecent from 3-point range.
Davante Gardner, F, Marquette
Scored a career-high 28 points in a win over DePaul. Averaged 16.0 points in a 1-1 week.
Brian Oliver, G, Seton Hall
In a 1-1 week, averaged 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and shot 61.5 percent from 3-point range.
JayVaughn Pinkston, F, Villanova
Averaged 20.5 points in a 2-0 week while shooting 52.4 percent from the field.
Semaj Christon, G, Xavier
Averaged 15.0 points, 8.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a 2-0 week.
