On Thursday night, DePaul had a tough time making it to Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse because of snow in the Indianapolis area, arriving just 30 minutes before tipoff. It may have taken a little while to warm up, but Blue Demons got hot late and won 99-94 in double overtime.

DePaul closed regulation time with an 11-0 run to force overtime. The Blue Demons shot 63.6 percent in the second half and 72.7 percent in overtime.

The game featured 30-point efforts by DePaul's Cleveland Melvin and Butler's Kellen Dunham.

At Xavier, the Mustkeeters ran their winning streak to eight games and improved their BIG EAST record to 3-0 by holding off Marquette 86-79. Guard Semaj Christon continued his impressive play. The sophomore's stat line showed 28 points on 8-10 shooting from the field, 3-or-3 from 3-point range and 9-of-10 from the foul line. He had six assists and only one turnover in 38 minutes. Davante Gardner had 19 points for Marquette.

Saturday's BIG EAST schedule includes three games. Villanova tries to stay unbeaten in league play when it battles St. John's at Madison Square Garden. The Wildcats won at Seton Hall on Wednesday. In three BIG EAST contests they rank first in the league in scoring (83.3), field goal shooting (54.1 percent) and 3-point shooting (47.7). The Red Storm have been off since losing at Georgetown last Saturday.

Marquette has a quick turnaround and hosts Seton Hall. The Golden Eagles have won 19 straight BIG EAST games at home. The Pirates are still trying to get healthy. They played without starters Fuquan Edwin and Eugene Teague against Villanova.

Butler also is right back in action. The Bulldogs host a Georgetown team that will be trying to bounce back from a loss at Providence on Wednesday.

On Sunday, Xavier plays at Creighton in a matchup of 3-0 BIG EAST squads.
