No. 10/9 Connecticut (13-2, 2-2 BIG EAST) won its second-straight game by defeating Rutgers (10-6, 1-3 BIG EAST) 67-53 in the only BIG EAST contest on Tuesday night. Center Alex Oriakhi, who was coming off a 21 rebound performance against Texas, notched his second consecutive double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Kemba Walker finished with a team-best 18 points and has led UConn in scoring in every game this season. The contest was tight at halftime, with Rutgers trailing by five at 32-27. Mike Poole led the Scarlet Knights in the game with 11 points and 10 rebounds. But the Huskies opened the second half on a 20-2 run to take control of the game. It was the 10th-straight win for the Huskies over the Scarlet Knights. Wednesday is busy night in the BIG EAST with five games on the schedule. Four games tip-off at 7 p.m. and three will be nationally televised. Amidst a blizzard in the northeast, St. John's hosts No. 4/4 Syracuse at 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPNU.
