Men's Basketball Minute: Villanova Knocks Off No. 5 Louisville

All three New York Metropolitan teams are in action Wednesday. Rutgers hosts St. John's just two weeks after the Scarlet Knights squeezed out a 58-56 victory against the Red Storm at Madison Square Garden. Both teams are 3-3 in BIG EAST play.

Up the New Jersey Turnpike a few exits, Seton Hall hosts USF on ESPNU. The Pirates are looking to end a four-game losing streak while the visiting Bulls are coming off a 61-58 triumph over Georgetown. Both clubs stand at 1-4 in the conference standings.
Last night, Villanova used a late 13-1 run to knock off No. 5/5 Louisville 73-64 at the Wells Fargo Center. Freshman guard Ryan Arcidiacono paced five Wildcats in double figures with 15 points. Wayne Blackshear scored a game-high 17 points for the Cardinals, who were betrayed by making only 12-of-24 free throws.
In Providence, Pittsburgh hung on to beat the Friars 68-64. The Panthers were sparked by a 17-point effort from forward Lamar Patterson and shot 51 percent from the floor. BIG EAST scoring leader Bryce Cotton led Providence with 24 points.
