St. John's finally got into the BIG EAST win column with Thursday's 77-76 victory over visiting Seton Hall. The Red Storm used a 15-1 run to take a 65-48 lead with 8:59 to play before the Pirates rallied with a 13-2 outburst that almost brought them all the way back.

Both teams are 11-8 overall going into Saturday games. Three of Seton Hall's six BIG EAST contests have been decided by one point. St. John's has played a pair of 1-point BIG EAST games and one 2-point contest.

Other than the conference opening day on Dec. 31, Saturday is the only other day this season when all 10 BIG EAST teams will be in action.

This weekend college basketball coaching staffs all over the country will be wearing sneakers on the sidelines as part of Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend to help raise awareness about the fight against cancer and highlight the importance of nutrition and physical activity in reducing cancer risk.

On the court, the day begins with Providence, 4-2 in league play, hosting 5-1 Xavier on FOX Sports 1. The Friars have a four-game winning streak. All of the Musketeers' league wins have come by seven to 13 points. Xavier is coming off a 74-64 win at DePaul.

Marquette is aiming to build on Monday's overtime win at Georgetown when it hosts Villanova. That game follows Xavier-PC on FOX Sports 1. The Golden Eagles have won 20 straight home BIG EAST contests. Villanova will be trying to bounce back from its first conference defeat, which came against Creighton.

St. John's and Seton Hall have quick turnarounds after last night's one-point affair at Carnesecca Arena. The Red Storm visit Butler and the Pirates host DePaul.

After a 3-1 BIG EAST start, Georgetown is looking to shake a three-game losing streak at Creighton, which is coming off its record-breaking win at Villanova when the Bluejays made 21 3-point baskets.
