All four home teams grabbed win in the BIG EAST on Wednesday night, including Providence (13-8, 2-6 BIG EAST) defeating its second consecutive top-25 opponent in No. 8/7 Villanova 83-68. West Virginia (13-6, 4-3 BIG EAST) held an 11-point lead at one point before going more than 13 minutes without a field goal. UofL held the Mountaineers to 4-of-22 shooting in the second half. Guard Joe Mazzulla scored a career-high 18 points for WVU, all coming in the first half, on 8-of-12 shooting. The rest of the team was just 11-of-41. It was just a one-point game at the half, but UC outscored Rutgers 41-26 in the second half. Bishop led a late run that put the Bearcats in control, as Bishop made a 3 and had a fast-break dunk that completed an 8-0 run that pushed the lead to 12. Forward Yancy Gates added 11 points and 12 rebounds for Cincinnati. Rutgers (12-8, 3-5 BIG EAST) was led by Jonathan Mitchell, who had 20 points while Dane Miller added 10. Georgetown (15-5, 4-4 BIG EAST) won its third straight game, beating St. John's 77-52 at the Verizon Center. The win brought the Hoyas back to .500 in the BIG EAST. Guard Jason Clark was 5-of-5 from the field and led the team with 16 points, while guard Hollis Thompson came off the bench to score 15. Georgetown shot 51 percent from the floor, as the team continues to rank No. 2 in the country in field goal percentage. The Red Storm (11-8, 4-5 BIG EAST) were led by Justin Burrell's 12 points and eight rebounds.
