NEW YORK – This week, the BIG EAST will launch a multi-media ticket sales and marketing campaign inviting alumni and fans to experience the excitement of one of the most compelling events in sports, the BIG EAST men's basketball tournament.
Entitled “Glory Awaits,” the campaign is designed to capture the emotional connection fans have with the tournament and incorporates social media and targeted email marketing, as well as digital, print, television and in-arena advertising.
For the first time since 2003, tickets to the BIG EAST Conference Tournament, which will be held in New York City March 12-15, are being made available to the general public via the BIGEAST.com website, with support from Ticketmaster and Madison Square Garden, which will be hosting the tournament for the 32nd consecutive year.
“The BIG EAST Men’s Tournament at Madison Square Garden is one of the most anticipated events on New York City’s sports calendar, and we expect a large turnout from fans, alumni and supporters of our schools, including our three new members, Creighton, Butler and Xavier, who will experience the tournament atmosphere at the Garden for the first time,” said Commissioner Val Ackerman.
She added, "By going from a 16 to 10-team field, we are able to make tickets available to college basketball lovers who do not have access to tickets through the individual schools. We are very excited to open the tournament to a new group of fans, especially those in the New York City area." vThe BIG EAST is currently offering strips of tickets for all five sessions of the tournament – from the first round through the Conference Championship game. Tickets can be purchased directly through the official BIG EAST website (www.BIGEAST.com)
The BIG EAST recently welcomed New York Life as the Presenting Sponsor for the BIG EAST Men’s Tournament, as well as the BIG EAST championships in all sports.
