CHICAGO - After playing just three games since Jan. 15, DePaul opens a stretch of three games in seven days on Wednesday night at St. John's. DePaul enters the game looking to snap a season-high four-game losing streak while evening the season series with the Red Storm. St. John's won the first meeting of the season on Jan. 19 at Allstate Arena.
The game will be televised on ESPNU at 9 p.m. ET with Adam Amin (play-by-play) and Tim Welsh (analyst) handling the television duties. The broadcast is also available online at WatchESPN.com. DePaul stands at 10-9 overall and 1-5 in the BIG EAST while St. John's is the hottest team in the BIG EAST with four straight wins for a 13-7 overall record and 5-3 mark in league play. DePaul head coach Oliver Purnell is in his third season at DePaul and his 25th as a head coach at the collegiate level. St. John's coach Steve Lavin is in his third season leading the Red Storm.
Following the St. John's game, DePaul continues the busy week and hosts Notre Dame on Saturday and Villanova on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Both games game can be seen on ESPN2 and heard on WSCR 670 AM.

D'Angelo Harrison leads the team with 19.8 points per game while JaKarr Sampson adds a scoring average of 14.3 per contest... Harrison has totaled 45 three-pointers this season and 34 steals... head coach Steve Lavin is in his third season leading the St. John's program... The Series: Wednesday is the 31st meeting between the two programs... St. John's holds a 16-14 advantage in the series... the Red Storm has won seven straight games against the Blue Demons... a year ago, St. John's won both regular-season meetings with an 87-81 decision at Allstate Arena on Feb. 1 followed by a 79-72 win at Carnesecca Arena on Feb. 20... DePaul's last win over St. John's was a 60-54 victory on the road on Jan. 12, 2008.
The Last Meeting: St. John's posted a 71-62 win over DePaul at Allstate Arena in the first meeting this season on Jan. 19... the Red Storm led by 17 points with 7:36 left in the game... DePaul stormed back and cut the deficit to three points with 2:24 left... St. John's clinched the win by scoring the game's final six points... Jamee Crockett led DePaul with 19 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists before fouling out with a minute left... Cleveland Melvin added 16 points and eight boards... St. John's was led by 18 points from Jamal Branch and 15 by D'Angelo Harrison... the loss for DePaul was just the second this season when outrebounding the opponent.
It Could Happen: A win snaps a season-high four-game losing streak... with 13 points, Cleveland Melvin (1,251 pts.) passes Joe Ponsetto (23rd place, 1,256 pts., 1974-78), Brandon Cole (24th place, 1,262 pts., 1991-95) and Bobby Simmons (21st place, 1,263 pts., 1998-01) on DePaul's all-time scoring list... with 15 points, Brandon Young (1,156 pts.) passes Bernard Randolph (32nd place, 1979-83, 1,161 pts.) and Lance Williams (31st place, 1998-02, 1,170 pts.)... with two three-pointers, Moses Morgan (100 3pt. FG) passes Willie Coleman (1997-99, 101 3pt. FG) for 15th place all-time... Donnavan Kirk (62 blocks) needs three blocked shots to pass Quemont Greer (64 blocks, 2001-05) and Stephen Howard (1998-92) for 17th all-time.
Demon Doings: Notes following DePaul's 93-55 loss at Pittsburgh on Jan. 26:
- Pittsburgh leads the series by an 8-2 margin.
- DePaul's field goal percentage was the lowest since shooting .241 (14-58) at Northwestern on Dec. 6, 2008.
- Moses Morgan became the 16th player in program history with 100 career three-pointers with his third three of the game.
- Brandon Young moved into 33rd on DePaul's all-time scoring list.
Blue Demons in the NCAA & BIG EAST Stat Rankings: Through games of Jan. 27, DePaul is 17th in the NCAA rankings with an average of 9.5 steals per game, 46th with a turnover margin of +2.8 and 53rd with a scoring average of 73.2 points per game. Through games of Jan. 28, the Blue Demons are third in steals (9.47 spg) and scoring (73.2 ppg) and sixth in turnover margin (+2.79) among the 15 BIG EAST programs.
Individually, Cleveland Melvin is ranked among national leaders in scoring, field goal percentage, rebounding, steals and double-doubles while Brandon Young is ranked in scoring, field goal percentage, assists and steals. Donnavan Kirk is also ranked among the top shot blockers.
In the BIG EAST rankings through games of Jan. 28, Cleveland Melvin is the league's only player ranked among the top 10 in scoring and rebounding. Melvin is fifth in both categories with Georgetown's Otto Porter as the next-closest player at fourth in rebounding and 13th in scoring. Who's Next: The Blue Demons host Notre Dame on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game at Allstate Arena...
