In the lone BIG EAST game on Super Bowl Sunday, Notre Dame moved to 14-0 at home with a 76-69 win over Rutgers. The Irish (19-4, 8-3) broke a three-way tie for second with Villanova and Louisville with the victory. Guard Ben Hansbrough led the team with 25 points while forward Carleton Scott had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Hansbrough helped seal the game down the stretch, as the senior hit 11-of-13 from the free-throw line. Notre Dame scored just twice from the field in the final eight minutes, but the squad was 27-of-34 from the charity stripe to move on to the win. The Scarlet Knights (12-11, 3-8) were led by Jonathan Mitchell, who had team-highs of 24 points and seven rebounds.
Rivalry week kicks off with a Big Monday matchup between No. 4/4 Pittsburgh and West Virginia at the WVU Coliseum at 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.
