Silky smooth-shooting forward Reggie Williams led Georgetown to the BIG EAST title, beating Syracuse 69-59 in the championship game.

Williams poured in 71 points in victories against Boston College, Providence and the Orangemen, who lost in the final for the second consecutive year.

Williams was named Tournament MVP and the team was dubbed "Reggie and the Miracles."

Georgetown beat Providence and it's star guard Billy Donovan 84-66 in the semifinals. The Friars got a measure of revenge a few weeks later beating the Hoyas in the NCAA Regional final to advance to the Final Four. Syracuse would also reach the Final Four.
