Men's Basketball Minute: Marquette, Syracuse Move Back Into First Place After Saturday


Sunday's BIG EAST schedule has only game, Louisville at USF. The Cardinals have won four of their last five games while the Bulls have only one league win, but it came against first-place Georgetown.
All five winning teams on Saturday scored in the 70s. DePaul ended its nine-game losing streak by holding off Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights lost leading scorer Eli Carter, who suffered a broken fibula. He will miss the rest of the season.
Providence defeated Notre Dame to increase its winning streak to four games, which is currently the second longest steak in the BIG EAST. Forward Kadeem Batts continued his productive play with 20 points and six rebounds.
Marquette extended its home winning streak to 23 games by defeating Pittsburgh. Guard Vander Blue finished with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor.
Villanova won at Connecticut on the strength of strong long-range shooting. Freshman guard Ryan Arcidiacono scored 25 points.
Syracuse scored a win at Seton Hall behind guard Brandon Triche's career-high 29 points. The Orange joined Georgetown and Marquette atop the BIG EAST standings.
