Jeremiah Kelly scored a career-high 23 points to help DePaul (7-19, 1-12) break a 24-game losing streak in BIG EAST regular-season play, as the Blue Demons beat the Friars 79-76 at the Dunkin Donuts Center Thursday night. It was also DePaul's first road conference victory since beating Cincinnati on March 6, 2008 and snapped a 29-game road losing streak overall. Freshman Cleveland Melvin had 20 points and classmate Brandon Young added 17 including 15 in the second half. After DePaul jumped out to a 10-point halftime lead, but Providence (14-12, 3-10) climbed back into the game in the second half and tied the game at 58 on a Kadeem Batts jumper with 8:36 remaining. Batts finished with eight points and nine rebounds while battling foul trouble. The Friars trailed by three in the closing minute, and had a chance to tie the game at the end but turned the ball over. Marshon Brooks led PC with 28 points while Duke Mondy added 17 points and seven rebounds.
