Villanova and Providence played a classic double-overtime BIG EAST game Tuesday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The Wildcats prevailed 82-79 on Ryan Arcidiacono's three-point play with 3.6 seconds left in the second overtime.

Bryce Cotton gave his usual ironman performance for the Friars, playing all 50 minutes. He finished with 22 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.

Both teams are used to the extra work this season. Villanova is 4-0 in overtime. Providence is 2-3 in overtime games and has played three double-overtime contests in BIG EAST play.

St. John's continued its hot streak, though it took 20 minutes to warm up in its win against Butler. The Bulldogs led 33-30 at halftime, but the Red Storm put together a 47-18 second half. JaKarr Sampson led the way, finishing with a career-high 23 points.

Khyle Marshall led Butler with 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Red Storm have won nine of their last 10 games.

Xavier and Marquette, tied for third place in the BIG EAST standings with 7-5 records, both play at home Wednesday. The Musketeers meet DePaul and Marquette hosts Creighton.
