The Seton Hall offense was in high gear from the opening tip last night against Georgetown in an 82-67 victory at the Prudential Center. The win gave the Pirates their first season sweep of the Hoyas since 2002-03.
Seton Hall shot a season-high 55.1 percent from the field. Fuquan Edwin scored a game-high 21 points and Sterling Gibbs added 18 points and seven assists without committing a turnover in 28 minutes of playing time. Guard Jaren Sina made his first start in eight games and contributed 10 points and four assists.
D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera had the scoring high for Georgetown with 20 points.
The Pirates moved to 5-8 in BIG EAST play while the Hoyas fell to 6-8.
Saturday's schedule begins at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time when Georgetown returns to the Verizon Center to battle Xavier. The Musketeers, 8-5 in league play, can maintain sole possession of third place with a win. The Hoyas need a win to get back into the logjam in the middle of the standings.
St. John's is definitely a part of the logjam with an 8-6 record. The Red Storm take their six-game winning streak to the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia where they will play Villanova.
Marquette is 7-6 in the conference and takes a bus trip to DePaul. The Golden Eagles have won five of their last seven games.
