No. 16/16 Louisville (21-7, 10-5) connected on 11, 3-pointers to get past Rutgers 55-37 at the RAC on Tuesday night. The Cardinals held Rutgers (13-14, 4-11) to 29.5 percent shooting. The Scarlet Knight point total (37) was one more than the record for fewest points in a BIG EAST game. Guard Preston Knowles scored a game-high 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds. The 11 3-pointers accounted for more than half of Louisville's field goals.
The Cardinals started the game on a 17-2 run, with Knowles hitting three from beyond the arc and Louisville never looked back. The Scarlet Knights were led by 12 points and six rebounds from Gilvydas Biruta.

Each of Wednesday's three games has a team with its eyes on one of the top four spots in the standings which translates into a bye into the quarterfinals of The BIG EAST Championship. Notre Dame (10-4), Georgetown (10-5), and St. John's (9-5) are second, third and fifth, respectively, in the BIG EAST standings and are all in action tonight.
Notre Dame visits Providence at 7 p.m. Eastern. The Irish have won seven of their last eight games.
Georgetown hosts Cincinnati at 9 p.m. The Hoyas are tied with Louisville for third place. The 8-6 Bearcats, meanwhile, are trying to put themselves above a logjam of five teams with six losses.
St. John's meets DePaul in Carnesecca Arena at 7 p.m. The Red Storm are aiming for their first 10-win season in BIG EAST play since 1999-2000.
