Three games went into overtime including two on the opening day of the BIG EAST tournament won by top-seeded Connecticut. And it seemed like just about every game went down to the final minute.

The Huskies beat No. 2 Syracuse, 69-64, in the final. Dynamo point guard Khalid El-Amin led Connecticut with 47 points and 10 assists for the tourney. He was named David Gavitt Trophy winner and also was invited to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman.

On the first day, Villanova was stretched to double extra sessions to beat Pittsburgh 96-93 and Boston College edged Seton Hall 97-87 in overtime.

The Orange made the final by getting past St. John's 69-67 in overtime.

The All-Tournament Team featured a couple of future NBA standouts, Ron Artest of St. John's and Richard Hamilton of Connecticut.
