Villanova tied a school record for regular-season victories with Wednesday's 67-48 win over Butler at The Pavilion. The Wildcats are 25-3. The 2008-09 team also won 25 contests in the regular season. That team ended up in the Final Four.

The Wildcats moved back into a first-place tie with Creighton in the BIG EAST standings at 13-2.

The Villanova defense held the Bulldogs to a season-low point total and 30.6 percent shooting from the field.

Butler's Kellen Dunham had 12 points and seven rebounds.

The regular-season countdown to The BIG EAST Tournament Presented by NEW YORK LIFE continues Thursday with a single game, Georgetown at Marquette on FOX Sports 1 at 9 p.m. ET. In the first meeting, the two teams played into overtime before Marquette prevailed 80-72 on Jan. 20 at the Verizon Center.
