After a dark night in BIG EAST arenas on Wednesday, two games are on Thursday's slate. Villanova travels to Xavier and DePaul hosts Butler. FOX Sports 1 televises both contests.

With only six regular-season games remaining, very little has been settled for next week's BIG EAST Tournament presented by NEW YORK LIFE.

A Villanova win tonight or Saturday against Georgetown gives the Wildcats the outright BIG EAST regular-season crown. Either way, Villanova and Creighton will be the top two seeds going to Madison Square Garden next week.

Xavier and Providence will be the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. Both teams are 10-7 in the league and 20-10 overall. The Friars go to Creighton Saturday.

St. John's and Marquette are tied for fifth with 9-8 BIG EAST marks and meet Saturday in Milwuakee. The winner will be the No. 5 seed.

Georgetown, with only Saturday's game against Villanova at the Wells Fargo Center remaining, can move up from No. 7 to No. 6 with a win and avoid Wednesday's first-round doubleheader.

Seton Hall is the only team locked in. The Pirates will be the No. 8 seed and play in the first game Wednesday night against the No. 9 seed. That team will be DePaul if the Blue Demons beat Butler. Butler can be ninth outright with a win over DePaul and Seton Hall on Saaturday.

BIG EAST teams have played very competitive schedules this season and a return to the round-robin scheduling format with a 10-team league has accentuated that. In this week's RPIRatings.com Report, every BIG EAST team has a strength of schedule rating in the top 100.
