The BIG EAST's impressive run through the 2011-12 season continued Monday night as eight teams picked up victories. That leaves the conference with a combined 28-0 record on the year heading into a busy Tuesday.
Connecticut picked up its second win of the year as the Huskies held off upset-minded Wagner 78-66 at Gampel Pavilion. The backcourt tandem of Jeremy Lamb and Shabazz Napier combined for 41 points, while the Huskies took advantage of a 42-24 edge on the glass to pick up their 13th straight win, dating to last year. Georgetown (2-0) was able to build a 25-point halftime lead and was never threatened in an 86-45 win against UNC-Greensboro at the Verizon Center in a mainland game of the EA Sports Maui Invitational. Forward Hollis Thompson led all scorers with 19 points, while guard Jason Clark had 17 for the Hoyas, who held UNC-Greensboro to just 29.6-percent shooting. Watch Highlights

DePaul is 2-0 after the Blue Demons rode a strong first half to an 80-70 win against Mississippi Valley State at McGrath-Phillips Arena. DePaul shot 60.7 percent from the field in the first half to take a 46-34 lead into the break and the Blue Demons maintained their double-digit lead the rest of the way. Guard Jeremiah Kelly led the way with 24 points and five assists, while guard Brandon Young had 19 points and five assists.
Notre Dame faced the toughest test of the night as the Fighting Irish trailed Detroit until midway through the second half in a 59-53 win at Purcell Pavilion. Notre Dame trailed by three at halftime, but clamped down defensively in the second half, holding the Titans to 26.3-percent shooting in the final 20 minutes. USF remained unbeaten behind a 30-point night from forward Victor Rudd as the Bulls were 81-67 winners against Marist at the St. Pete Times Forum. Rudd led four USF players in double figures as the Bulls outscored the Red Foxes by a 49-38 margin in the second half. Forward Augustus Gilchrist had 11 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Watch Highlights
Providence made Ed Cooley's return to Fairfield a success as guards Bryce Cotton, Vincent Council and Gerard Coleman scored 67 of the Firars' 80 points in an 80-72 win against the Stags. Council led the way with a game-high 26 points, while Cotton had 24 and Coleman added 17. Cooley, who served as head coach at Fairfield before taking over at Providence, gave the BIG EAST its first road win of the season.
Marquette had four players in double figures, including forward Jae Crowder, who had 25 points and 10 rebounds, to pace the Golden Eagles to a 99-68 win against Norfolk State at the Bradley Center as part of the Paradise Jam. Guard Darius Johnson-Odom had 24 points and six assists for Marquette, which scored 59 points in the second half to improve to 2-0.
Syracuse continued play in the Dick's Sporting Goods Preseason NIT as the Orange had an easy time with Manhattan in a 92-56 win at the Carrier Dome. Syracuse led 52-26 at halftime and didn't let the Jaspers in it in the second half. Guard Dion Waiters led four players in double figures with 17 points, while center Fab Melo added 11 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.Watch Highlights
Syracuse faces Albany Tuesday in the Preseason NIT in one of five games for BIG EAST teams Tuesday. West Virginia kicks things off with a 10 a.m. tap against Kent State as part of ESPN's 24-hour marathon of college games. Villanova faces La Salle at 7 p.m., Cincinnati hosts Jacksonville State at 7 as part of the Global Sports Challenge, while Rutgers hits the road for a 7 p.m. tap against Miami (Fla.).
