Kilpatrick, Sampson Earn Weekly Men's Basketball Honors


PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The BIG EAST Conference has named Cincinnati guard Sean Kilpatrick and St. John's forward JaKarr Sampson the winners of the league's weekly men's basketball honors for the week-ending Nov. 25.
Kilpatrick, who was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, led Cincinnati to the Global Sports Challenge championship and a 3-0 week. In a 78-70 win against Iowa State in the semifinals, the native of Yonkers, N.Y., poured in a career-high 32 points to go along with five rebounds and five steals. In the title game against Oregon, Kilpatrick posted 16 points and eight rebounds. Earlier in the week, he had 15 points and 10 boards in a 91-72 win against Campbell.

Sampson was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week after he helped propel St. John's to a 2-0 week by averaging 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals. In a 65-53 victory over Holy Cross, he scored a collegiate-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He followed that with a 12-point effort in a 79-68 win against Florida Gulf Coast. In the two games, he shot 62 percent from the field.  A native of Barberton, Ohio, Sampson is averaging 12.3 points and a team-leading 6.2 rebounds for the season.

Averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 3.0 assists in a 2-1 week while helping the Cardinals to a second-place finish in the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Averaged 22.5 points while shooting 56 percent from the floor in a 2-0 week. Had 25 points in an 87-80 win at UNC-Greensboro.
Averaged 18.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week while shooting 44 percent from 3-point range.
FUQUAN EDWIN, Seton Hall, G, Jr.
Averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals in a 2-0 week.  Shot 64 percent from the floor.
