Men's Basketball Minute: Three BIG EAST Teams Host Nonconference Opponents Tuesday

Notre Dame, USF and Marquette all scored nonconference wins Monday to lift the BIG EAST's cumulative record to 66-20 this season (.767). League teams have won 90.2 percent of their home games thus far (46-5).

Three more BIG EAST teams take the floor Tuesday, with all three playing at home. Pittsburgh looks to improve to 6-1 when the Panthers host Howard at 7 p.m. on the BIG EAST Network and SNY. The Panthers have won all three previous meetings against the Bison, most recently in 2004.

Providence, which has won two straight, faces a local rival when Holy Cross visits the Dunkin' Donuts Center in a game that will be televised locally on the BIG EAST Network. The Providence-Holy Cross series dates to 1921, with the Friars holding a 41-28 record against the Crusaders.

DePaul looks to snap a two-game slide as the Blue Demons return to Allstate Arena to take on Fairfield. DePaul is 3-0 all-time against the Stags, with the last meeting in 2002.

The end of the week is highlighted by the SEC-BIG EAST Challenge, as 12 BIG EAST teams take on their counterparts from the Southeastern Conference at home arenas. Four games will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with all games carried on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU. The BIG EAST won eight of the 12 games in the 2011 event.
