The BIG EAST-SEC Challenge wrapped up on Saturday with the BIG EAST winning the challenge, 8-4. The league's best win of the day came against a BIG TEN opponent.
In the only match between two ranked teams, Marquette ended Wisconsin's 23-game home winning streak with a 61-54 victory. Up four with a minute left, the Golden Eagles hit their free throws down the stretch to fend of the Badgers. Guard Darius Johnson-Odom scored 17 points while Todd Mayo added 14. Marquette returns to action against Washington at 9 p.m. on Dec. 6 as part of the Jimmy V Classic.
Led by guard Ryan Boatright's 23 point performance, Connecticut defeated Arkansas 75-62, in Hartford, Conn. Guard Jeremy Lamb added 14 points while forward Tyler Olander had 12 points and six rebounds for UConn. The Huskies host undefeated Harvard and champion of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8.
Guard John Johnson converted a clutch three-point play with two seconds left that helped seal Pittsburgh's 61-56 victory over Tennessee. Forward Nasir Robinson Robinson led the Panthers with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while guard Ashton Gibbs had 16 points.  The Panthers, who have won five straight, host Virginia Millitary Institute at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6.
Guard Hollis Tompson scored 20 points, forward Mikael Hopkins had 12 and guard Jason Clark added 10 to lead Georgetown to its fifth straight win, 84-44 over NJIT. The Hoyas raced to a 16-2 lead in the game's first five-and-a-half minutes, as Thompson hit three 3-pointers. The Hoyas host Howard on Dec. 10 at noon.
Villanova received 21 points and 11 rebounds from forward Mouphtaou Yarou as it defeated Penns 73-65. Guard Darrun Hillard added 13 points as the Wildcats snapped a two-game losing streak. It was the Wildcats ninth straight win over the Quakers.  Villanova squares off with Missouri at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6 as part of the Jimmy V Classic.
Forward Kevin Jones registered 14 points and nine rebounds as West Virginia fell to Mississippi State 75-62. Deniz Kilicli also had 14 points. The Mountaineers led by one point, 35-34, early in the second half before the Bulldogs took a 60-54 advantage with 5:31 remaining. West Virginia will participate in the Wichita Wildcat Classic and face Kansas State on Dec. 8 at 9 p.m.
Rutgers led for most of the game and led by five with five minutes to play before LSU came surging back and defeated the Scarlet Knights 55-50. LSU outscored Rutgers 12-2 in the game's final 4:49. Guard Eli Carter led Rutgers with 10 points forward Mike Poole had five steals, five rebounds and six points. Rutgers hosts Princeton at 7:30 on Dec. 7.
Trailing by only three at halftime, USF fell to Kansas 70-42. Forward Augustus Gilchrist scored 11 points while forward Toarlyn Fitzpatrick had five points and six rebounds. The Bulls host Florida A&M on Dec. 11 at 2 p.m.
Today, Notre Dame faces Maryland in Washington D.C. as part of the BB&T classic at 4:45 p.m.
