BIG EAST Men's Basketball Honors - Dec. 12

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The BIG EAST Conference has named West Virginia guard Darryl Bryant and Providence forward LaDontae Heton the winners of the conference's weekly men's basketball honors for the week-ending Dec. 11.

Bryant was named BIG EAST Player of the Week after he helped the Mountaineers to wins over Kansas State and Miami (Fla.) by averaging 25.5 points and 4.0 rebounds.  In a 77-66 win Saturday over the Hurricanes, the senior from Brooklyn, N.Y., scored a career-high 27 points.  He shot 9-of-12 from the field, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range.  Two nights earlier, Bryant had 24 points in an 85-80 double-overtime victory against Kansas State.  He is averaging 17.0 ppg for the season.
 
Henton wins BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week after averaging 17.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in a 3-0 week.  In a 64-57 win over Boston College, Henton had a career-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds.  For the season, the native of Lansing, Mich., is averaging 13.7 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds.

Gorgui Dieng, Louisville, C, So.
Averaged 16.0 points and 12.0 rebounds while shooting 86.7 percent from the floor in a 2-0 week.  
 
Jae Crowder, Marquette, F, Sr.
Averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in victories over Washington and Green Bay.  His 3-pointer in the closing seconds was the winning basket against the Huskies.
 
Jack Cooley, Notre Dame, F, Jr.
Averaged 22.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots in a 2-0 week.  He shot 72.7 percent from the field and 92.3 percent from the foul line.  
 
Herb Pope, Seton Hall, F, Sr.
Averaged 25.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week, which included a 26-point, 14-rebound effort in a 68-54 win against Wake Forest.
