MEN'S BASKETBALL ROUNDUP - DEC. 22

 BIG EAST teams went 4-0 on Wednesday.
 
Forward Patrik Auda scored a career-high 18 points to lead Seton Hall over Dayton 69-64. Guard Jordan Theodore finished with 14 points and eight assists for the while forward Herb Pope registered 14 points and nine rebounds. With the game tied at 58-58 with 6:12 remaining, Seton Hall scored seven-straight points to pull away with 2:15 left on the clocks. At 10-1 Seton Hall is off to its best start since the 1992-93 season. Seton Hall travels to face Longwood on Friday at 7 p.m.
 
Guard JaQuon Parker scored a career-high 17 points as Cincinnati extended its winning streak to three games with a 101-53 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Guard Cashmere Wright led both teams with 20 points, guard Dion Dixon added 16 and guard Sean Kilpatrick had 12 for the Bearcats, who posted their widest winning margin in Mick Cronin's six seasons as coach. Cincinnati hosts Chicago State on Friday at 7 p.m.
 
Forward Cleveland Melvin and guard Brandon Young scored 16 points apiece as DePaul beat Cal Poly 63-58 for its fifth straight win. The 9-3 record is the best start for DePaul since the 1999-2000 season. Forward Jamee Crockett added 10 points for the Blue Demons. DePaul starts BIG EAST play when it hosts Syracuse on Jan. 1 at 5 p.m.
 
St. John's outscored Texas-Pan American 7-0 in the final minute for a 66-61 victory. The Red Storm rallied behind Forward God'sgift Achiuwa, who scored 22 points and guard D'Angelo Harrison, whose 21 points included five in the last half-minute. St. John's opens BIG EAST play when it hosts Providence on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m.
 
Georgetown hosts Memphis on ESPN2. The teams have already met this year with the Hoyas prevailing 91-88 in overtime at the Maui Invitational Nov. 23. Memphis just lost at Louisville 95-87 in a hard-fought game last Saturday. Connecticut hosts Fairfield at the XL Center as Huskies forward Tyler Olander faces his older brother, Ryan, who is a center for the Stags. Marquette faces Milwaukee at the Bradley Center. The Golden Eagles are 38-0 all-time against the Panthers, which is the nation's second-longest active series winning streak. West Virginia coach Bub Huggins goes for his 700th victory tonight as the Mountaineers face Missouri State at 7 p.m. in the Las Vegas Classic.
