Three BIG EAST teams were in action on Sunday. The two home squads were victorious while the team on the road tasted defeat.

Creighton never trailed in its 68-54 win over California. The Bluejays, who are on a four-game winning streak, were led by forward Doug McDermott, who posted game highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Seton Hall got Fuquan Edwin back from an ankle injury and all the senior did was tie the school record in steals with eight in a 92-70 win over Eastern Washington. Edwin had missed the previous three games, but did his usual filling up the box score with 14 points, eight steals, four rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes.

DePaul played at Illinois State and held the Redbirds without a field goal in the final 6:57. But the Blue Demons could not enjoy their trip home because they dropped a 69-64 decision. Freshman guard Billy Garrett, Jr. continued his productive play with 18 points, his highest point total as a collegian.

BIG EAST teams are home for the holidays this week until Friday, when Seton Hall and DePaul return to action. The Pirates host Lafayette on campus at Walsh Gym. DePaul takes a short bus ride to Northwestern.

Seven teams are back playing Saturday. In a battle of top 10 teams, Villanova plays at Syracuse in a game televised by CBS Sports.

Creighton is back at it on Sunday with a game against Chicago State.
