PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Notre Dame midfielder Zach Brenneman earned BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Jeff Lowman from St. John's was tabbed the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. The weekly awards are the first of the 2011 season.
Brenneman netted a career-high five points on three goals and two assists, helping Notre Dame defeat No. 5 Duke 12-7 on Feb. 20. He scored the first two goals of a 4-0 Irish run in the fourth quarter and assisted on the final goal of the game. The game marked his ninth career hat trick and third against Duke. He has recorded a hat trick in three-straight games dating back to last season.
Lowman tied a career high, making 16 saves to help St. John's defeat Holy Cross 16-7 on Feb. 19. He helped the Red Storm deny the Crusaders on five of six extra-man opportunities and set a career-high with a .696 save percentage.

Scored seven points at Holy Cross with four goals and three assists.

Recovered two ground balls, held Denver's leading scorer to one attempted shot.
JoJo Marasco, Syracuse, So., A
Had two goals and two assists to help Syracuse to a 13-7 win against Denver.
Billy Hurley, Villanova, So., GK
Made eight saves, including four in the final quarter, in a 9-8 win against Lehigh.
BIG EAST men's lacrosse is in its second season and is the 24th sport sponsored by the BIG EAST and the 11th men's sport. The seven conference schools participating are Georgetown, Notre Dame, Providence, Rutgers, St. John's, Syracuse and Villanova. The teams will play a six-game single round-robin regular-season schedule.
